Music Teacher Chelsea Otten is the first recipient of HPSF Funding for her project Parachutes, Ribbons and Scarves, Oh My! She applied for the funds earlier in April and her proposal was reviewed and fully funded by HPSF.
Mrs. Otten is the Music Educator for Hallsville’s Primary and Intermediate Schools. The new curriculum helps students engage with classical music through movement and the use of props. She will use the new program with students in the Primary School, currently K-1, but soon to include 2nd grade as well.
In her proposal, Mrs. Otten said “all children engage in learning at a higher level through movement and group play. My goal with this grant is to introduce some new resources and activities to the Primary music room to further engage and motivate our youngest Hallsville Indians in music class.”
Congratulations, Mrs. Otten, and thank you for all you do for our kids and our schools. We appreciate you!
